Made in the USA
Airtherm began as a small regional manufacturer in St. Louis in 1931, producing extended surface heating equipment, essentially steam and hot water unit heaters and furnaces. The company's growth was modest until World War II, when requests for military related equipment and steel fabricated products provided Airtherm with an opportunity for growth in areas other than heating and cooling equipment.
Airtherm then began a research and development program, which produced many new products and some significant new heating and cooling equipment. Sales volumes grew in the heating and air conditioning division of Airtherm, so much so, that, in 1963, the manufacturing of the products was moved to a much larger facility in Forrest City Arkansas. For years Airtherm prospered as a premier manufacturer of HVAC products, primarily institutional grade fan coils. To concentrate on this facet of its business, Airtherm withdrew from all other pursuits.
In late August, 2000, Mestek, Inc., through a newly formed entity, titled "Airtherm, LLC" purchased the assets of the original Airtherm. The Forrest City plant remains the facility from which the fan coils are manufactured. The Airtherm heating products are manufactured in other Mestek facilities. All Mestek corporate functions as well as Airthermís sales, marketing, engineering and customer service functions are conducted out of Mestekís corporate headquarters located in Westfield, MA.
